It's only a matter of weeks until we turn our attention to decorating our cottages, and that includes sourcing the Christmas trees for some of the properties.
Last year, we partnered with Lake District Eco Christmas Trees to provide our guests with an eco-friendly option. As part of our sustainability and environmental responsibilities, we're pleased to share that we will be using the same trees in our cottages this year. What's more, the mild and wet weather this summer has helped our pot-grown trees thrive, and they're looking fantastic. These beautiful trees will be available for guests staying in Low Cleabarrow, Matson Ground Lodge, Elm How and Cruck Barn this December.
Pot-grown trees
Unlike traditional Christmas trees, which are felled from forests and often discarded after the festive season, these eco-friendly trees are pot-grown, ensuring their long-term sustainability. The trees are sourced from Lake District Eco Christmas Trees, a family-run business dedicated to providing sustainable Christmas trees.
Once Christmas is over, we return the Christmas trees where they will absorb the atmosphere's CO2, release oxygen and continue growing. Once they are too big to be used for decorative purposes, the trees are planted out in the woods, rather than ending up in landfill.
If you're staying in one of our cottages this Christmas, all we ask is that you care for the tree. To continue to flourish, the tree simply needs one pint of water each day.
These nature-friendly practices ensure that our cottages are filled with Christmas cheer without compromising the environment.
